Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, children and parents are invited to practice their Taekwondo skills together in a fun, energetic atmosphere.

Kick off your weekend and join us the first Friday of every month for some true community time with food, drinks, music, games and more.

Date Night

Saturday evenings have your children join us for Taekwondo, dinner, movies, music, surprises, treats and more. They'll have so much fun they will never want to leave!

Women's Self-Empowerment

Learn the basics of urban self-defense in this invaluable seminar for women. This two hour session includes the teaching, demonstration and hands-on practice of physical skills to help women react quickly, retreat to safety and protect themselves.

Self-Defense Workshop

Students of all ages learn practical self-defense techniques to stay safe in our urban environment. Open to all, basic and advanced physical skills are taught to protect members from unforeseen events.

Teresa Throckmorton Certified 5th Degree Black Belt

Master Throckmorton is a 5th degree black belt Master Instructor certified by the World Taekwondo Federation and the Kukkiwon, the international home of Taekwondo in Korea. She participated for many years in the competition circuit, winning numerous awards and medals. Under the guidance of 9th Dan Master Instructor Shihan Nick Adler, Master Throckmorton also trains in Isshinryu Karate. Devoted to teaching proper technique with the utmost precision, Master Throckmorton guides students mentally and physically on the path toward black belt excellence.

Kenya Peterson Certified 4th Degree Black Belt

Born and raised in Queens, Master Peterson is a certified 4th degree black belt Master Instructor. Over the years, Master Peterson has competed in numerous tournaments winning the New York State Taekwondo Championship on three occasions. Training in several different martial-arts, including Kung Fu and Jiu Jitsu, Master Peterson has a gentle nature, perfect for teaching children and adults the tenets of Taekwondo.

Malick Coulibaly dit Fall Certified 5th Degree Black Belt

Master Fall, a certified 5th degree black belt Master Instructor and world class competitor, began studying Taekwondo in 1982 in his home country of Mali, West Africa. He was the reigning National Champion of Mali from 1986 to 1993 and represented his country in the 1993 World Taekwondo Championships at Madison Square Garden where he reached the quarterfinals. Master Fall opened Harlem Taekwondo in January of 2002 and in 2006 founded One World Taekwondo Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at providing Taekwondo to members of the Harlem community who cannot afford to join.

Nick Adler Certified 9th Degree Black Belt

Chief Instructor Master Nick Adler began his martial-arts training in 1956 receiving rank in both Judo and Jujitsu. In 1962, he began training in Okinawan Isshinryu Karate with Grandmaster Ed McGrath and Mel Sutphen and continued his training with Grandmaster Don Nagle and Grandmaster Angi Uezu. He currently holds the rank of 9th Dan. Training in the martial-arts for over 35 years, Master Adler has won hundreds of awards and is the director of the Nick Adler Centurions. Master Adler is an internationally licensed instructor and holds Kyoshi in Kobudo from the USKA, Renshi in Kobudo from Grandmaster Seikichi Odo and Menkyo Kai from Master Uezu, which are the highest licenses any instructor may receive.

Dong Keun Park Certified 9th Degree Black Belt

Grandmaster Park, 9th Degree Black Belt, has over 60 years teaching Taekwondo. He was the Head coach for the Olympic Team in Barcelona, Spain in 1992, the U.S. World Championship Team in 1993, Head Coach for the U.S. World Championship Team in 1993 and Head Coach for the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1994. Grandmaster Park retired into the Korean Amateur Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1966 as the only undefeated Taekwondo champion with over 6 1/2 years of international competition. In 1966 on the personal request from the King of Thailand, he taught Taekwondo to the Royal Family and U.S. Military and became the Father of Taekwondo In Thailand. He now owns and operates D.K. Park Taekwondo in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Van Samlane Certified 4th Degree Black Belt

An Olympic Taekwondo coach, international champion and 4th degree black belt, Master Van brings a special expertise to our Studio. A French native, Master Van coached the Laos Olympic Taekwondo team and owned his own TKD school before coming to the United States in early 2012. His passion for Taekwondo, coupled with years of diverse training and experience, radiate throughout his teaching of students of all ages.

Rodolfo Valenzuela Jr. Certified 4th Degree Black Belt

Born and raised in the Philippines, Master RV brings over 18 years of experience to CPTKD. He is a certified 4th Dan black belt through the WTF and the Kukkiwon. He has competed for over ten years as a member of the Philippine junior national and national team. Prior to coming to the Untied States in 2010 Master RV owned and ran his own Taekwondo school in the Philippines. Master RV is passionate about sparring and promotes proper technique while encouraging all students to be their best.

Mommy & Me 18 months-2 Years Old

Moms, dads and caregivers can bring their toddlers for Taekwondo basics, bonding time and plenty of fun and games.

Pea Pods 3-4 Years Old

The journey begins here. Kids get a chance to hone basic physical skills, be a part of a dynamic group and learn discipline and respect in a fun, safe setting.

Pee Wees 4-5 Years Old

Children further develop their gross and fine motor skills in classes that combine discipline with compassion and fun. Kids learn to stay focused, persevere and never give up.

Children 6-12 Years Old

Our program trains kids in all areas of Taekwondo from techniques and forms to sparring. Students test for each belt level under the guidance of a Master Instructor.

Teens 12 Years Old and Up

Older children and adults train together in classes open to all levels. Classes are designed to help students advance toward obtaining their black belt.

Children's Self-Defense All Ages

Children learn basic and advanced self-defense techniques to combat 'bullies' and to protect themselves from our urban environment.
